Celebrating 100 years of supporting live music and professional musicians!
We are a non-profit organization seeking to unite and organize professional musicians to secure improved wages, hours, working conditions and other economic advantages for our members through collective bargaining, and to establish terms and conditions for equitable and fair dealing among our members. We are an affiliate of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada, with over 90,000 members.
Local 689 has jurisdiction over most of southern Oregon, and small areas of California. The exact description of our jurisdiction may be found in Section Two of our local bylaws.
The Board of Directors meets once a month. Meeting dates are listed on our calendar. Members are welcome to attend any Board meeting. Four times a year we hold special General Membership meetings where all members are invited to share their concerns with the Board.
Board members (with the exception of the Secretary-Treasurer) are volunteers who are elected to one or two year terms. Serving on the Board of Directors is a great way to support your union and your profession! Contact our office if you're interested.
